UWRF Sigma Alpha-Beta Zeta Chapter Recognized

Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/10/2009

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Beta Zeta chapter of Sigma Alpha recently took a trip to Indianapolis for its national convention and returned with numerous awards and honors. In addition, advisor Gerald Matteson, a retired UWRF agricultural education professor, was also recognized with the Board's Choice Award and Advisor of the Year.

At the convention, which was themed 'Accelerating in Agriculture, Lapping the Competition,' the UWRF Beta Zeta Chapters was recognized for a $500 Professional Development Grant and the Emerald Chapter Award for the founding of an alumni chapter.

In addition, the chapter received the Founder's Cup Award, which is the highest honor a chapter can receive at the national level. This prestigious award is given to a chapter that exhibits excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship. The chapter must also submit all national records on time and participate in nationally recognized activities.

The national convention was National Sigma Alpha's 31st Anniversary and 30 chapters were represented.
